Remember, Pat, that book was given authority equal to or superior to the Bible among a LOT of Christians back when Henry Kissinger was PROVEN to be The Antichrist. And the plague of demon locusts in Revelation was PROVEN to be helicopter gunships armed with chemical weapons and piloted by long-haired bearded hippies. And Revelation itself was PROVEN to be a vision of Nuclear War.

I used to make a crack that “Their Bible is only 3 1/2 books — Daniel, Revelation, the ‘Nuclear War Chapter’ of Ezekiel (the half) and Late Great Planet Earth.” And I wasn’t exaggerating — those WERE the only parts used in a LOT of “Bible Studies” at the time — I was there!

CelticIndian, chill out, dude. We like Carolyn. We don’t really understand her sometimes, but she’s good people.

I don’t really understand Pre-Trib Carolyn MOST of the time.

One thing is true though, is that a lot of us have been yelled at be incoherent PMD theorists bent on convincing us that Thee Ende Is Niyghe, claiming one piece of especially special revalation or another, talking crazy about the mark of the beast and casting aspersions on random politicians… nobody likes that.

And I have a personal reason. Remember Hal Lindsay? And his 67th book of the Bible, Late Great Planet Earth? Ye Ende is Niyghe (TM) messed up my head big-time for close to twenty years; even thirty years down the line, I have to fight constantly against Christian Nihilism (”It’s All Gonna Burn”) to accomplish ANYTHING. (If It All Ends Tomorrow and It’s All Gonna Burn, why bother?)

I lost 20-30 years of my life to the “Here Comes The Antichrist! It’s All Gonna Burn! Scripture! Scripture! Scripture! Scripture! Rapture! Rapture! Rapture! Rapture!” End Time Prophecy obsession like Carolyn preaches. A Christless gospel of escape fantasy followed by lip-smacking revenge fantasy, with or without LaHaye & Jenkins’ author self-inserts.

I have no idea if Carolyn is for real or not when it comes to this End Times stuff, but I doubt it, and she understands that she’s saying stuff so similar to the charlatans and insane people that we can’t really be faulted for not taking her words as the next Gospel. It’s no stress. Lots of us don’t care much about eschatology anyways.

I have never commented here before, and probably shall never do so again. I am truly sorry to see Christians jeering at & ridiculing one another simply for having differing theories (and all of them are just that – theories) on exactly how eschatology will unfold. That some believe there will never be a final disposition of the effects of sin on God’s creation is an interesting idea, but I am familiar with the system of belief that asserts that we are always progressing, and always to a better place…unfortunately, I don’t believe humankind is any less fallen today than it was when it was, say, burning people alive to worship the deity du jour. That belief should not subject me to un-Christlike scorn or ridicule. There isn’t a person on here (or a theological system in existence) who can conclusively state how the world came into being or how God will conclude history. Diversity of opinion is fine, but opinions are like…noses. Everyone has one, and everyone’s is different. A little more respect for the other guy’s nose would be nice.

Carolyn is obviously using the King James Version of the Bible. In just about every other version of the Bible that I know of, what is translated “Elias” in the New Testament of the KJV is translated “Elijah”. — Lonely Pilgrim

Being KJV-only DOES fit with Carolyn’s apparent Left Behind Fever. Everything she’s posted so far has a distinct PMD ring to it, and PMDs are often KJV-only. Enoch & Elijah being the “Two Witnesses” mentioned in Revelation is a more common identification than Left Behind’s Moses & Elijah (”Moe & Eli”) teamup.

(PMD = “Pre-Millenial Dispensationalists” or “Protestants of Mass Destruction”, take your pick.)
