First of all, thanks to all of you who offered kind and helpful advice.

I had an Ash Wednesday liturgy at 7:00 a.m. here on campus with approximately 17 students and staff. It was during a huge thunderstorm, so many people couldn’t come.

I’m glad I did it, but I still wish there was a church where I could go and simply participate.

Many, many Presbyterian congregations now observe Ash Wednesday, and a good share of those include the imposition of the ashes, as ours will. I live in Dubuque IA and I can go a few blocks in any direction and find a worship experience happening and be sure that they are enough ashes to go upon the intergenerational congregations. I think you ought to start a tradition in your own local institution of contextual Christian education. Choices.. Choices.. post evangelical choices.
