I like the what you win them with is what you win them to portion of your podcast. You don’t even have to depart Protestant territory to read Hauerwas. I would even suggest wading into his writings by using his theological commentary, simply entitled Matthew, which is part of the Brazos series of theological commentaries on the Bible. As a Catholic I am being daily enriched, by being challenged, prodded, and infuriated by this brilliant, yet humble contribution.

Thank you! If you get people into the pews with promises of better sex, glitzy presentations, and new cars, it’s almighty difficult to get them to listen to exhortations about helping the poor, living spiritually aware lives, giving away their excess,or preserving the environment. Bait-and-switch makes people upset, no matter where it happens.

    Michael,

I really enjoyed the podcast. I agree with Scott that the “what you win them” statement is absolutely correct. We have faced that in my church and I know I will face it in a few months when I move to Tucson.

Keep up the great work! Enjoy your rest!

    Jonathan

    Michael,

I’m a little late in listening to this podcast, but you really nailed it. Amen!
