		<description>&lt;i&gt;Studying Acts with my students, itâ€™s freshly clear to me that the immediate struggle of the early Christians was not only, or even particularly, theological, but practical.&lt;/i&gt;

In other words, Christianity didn&#039;t sweep over the Roman Empire on the strength of Young Earth Creationism, Pin-the-tail-on-the-Antichrist, or teetotaling.  It&#039;s only after you&#039;ve won and solved the survival problems that you have the leisure to indulge in theological arguments.</description>

		<description>Good comments.  Although I also like to see Christian efforts to put the Kingdom of God into practice, I worry about political action.  

I do think Christians need to be wary of using political power to promote God&#039;s work, because Jesus did not.  

On the other hand, Jesus&#039; actions and message did have deep and far-reaching political implications, though, so if going about the Lord&#039;s work makes political waves, then so be it.</description>
