Excellent illustration of “but if” theology.

A couple of it’s corollaries are -

Plain old “But” theology – I know it says this, but what it really means is the opposite.
Example – I know Paul, John and Peter say God wants all men to come to salvation, but, in reality, He has secretly damned most.

“Inferred” theology – If you believe X, you must believe in Y.
Examples – If you believe in unlimited atonement, you must be a universalist.
If you are egalitarian, you must also approve of homosexual pastors.

“That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” – Titus 3:7.

We are saved by grace THROUGH faith, not grace AND faith. More than a subtle difference that seems to have been lost in all the focus on discrete sola-s.
