I'm millennial in outlook, but 99.44% of the folks who look at prophecy forget one very important fact. Matt. 24:34-37 Tell us that we can not know the time line.
    * 34. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass , till all these things be fulfilled .

    * 35. Heaven and earth shall pass away , but my words shall not pass away .

    * 36. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

    * 37. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be .

    * 38. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking , marrying and giving in marriage , until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39. And knew not until the flood came , and took them all away ; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

I find it interesting that a number of people over the years have claimed some date or other in their preaching or their writing, and as far as I know none of them have gotten it right yet.

Michael,

I have thought that America was, and is, Babylon for some time now. And I do not understand why more churches are not speaking out.

Our sins have reached heaven. As the prophet Daniel revealed to Belshazzar - God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end, you have been weighed in the balances and found wanting. (Daniel 5.26, 27)

Right now, this country is being weighed in heaven. God has decided to take a look at the books, and we are coming up short.

The end has come. The party is over. And it is time to sober up and prepare for some very serious times ahead.

Keith,

"That’s quite a paragraph. I don’t see a lot of “self-righteous glee” here, though. It just gives us pause to think. It’s self-examination so we don’t get so enamored of money that we lose our souls."

That may have been Michael's point. I am sceptical of that since we have seen him rail against people who own SUV's as being unChristian. He denied that he was making that point but there were commentors who noted that he never said "They can drive what they want" with out following it up with "but there's better things to do with their money. And caucazhin's posts don't drip with the feeling of watching your parents' favorite child get reamed for something?

“easily predictable, naturally occurring cycles” It would have been good of you to clue in Paulson and Bernanke a little earlier. :-)"

I'm not some genius here. There have been all sorts of people pointing to this problem including Ron Paul, Glenn Beck, and even John McCain to a lesser extent. Bubbles burst. The Tulip Bubble, the Tech Bubble, now the Housing Bubble. It's as natural a cycle as planting and reaping.

"“When the judgement falls on America” Is there something else you’re holding out on us? (I personally think it will be more of an “ism” or multiple “isms” that will generally be broader than just America)"

I think America is ripe for judgement. I think every country on the planet is ripe for judgement. I think we in America have been blessed with resources that no other country has had. We used to use it for ourselves but we also used it to help others and send out missionaries all around the world. We have now reached the point where poor African countries are sending missionaries here. We still, as individuals, out give virtually every country in the world. I believe that, and the prayers of true believers, is the only reason judgement has not fallen.

"Gravity, Temperature, Storms/Weather, God made, God controls.

Wall Street, Fannie & Freddie, AIG, etc. Humans made, thinking they control it. They’re wrong, we’re wrong.

I don’t really think like you do that they are that similar. (but I could just be an idiot)"

No, you are not an idiot. All of the things mentioned follow very clear, immutable laws. Economics is really no different than physics. In both cases you can create a hypothesis, do actions to test it, and confirm or exclude it. The biggest difference is you can test a lot of physics in a few minutes; economics takes decades.

I also believe that these laws were put into place by God at the creation but he does not "control" them. He does not micro-manage the universe and these laws do not require God's active participation to work. He CAN control them. He has the ability to step in and ignore them but this is not the usual way of things.

The question is, are the sins of Wall Street greater than the sins of Main Street? Does the fact that most of the people involved are rich make it more worthy of judgement than the factory worker down the street who won't give a dollar to a homeless guy he tries to avoid on his way to the ballgame?

1 There were some present at that very time who told him (Jesus) about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And he answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? 3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? 5 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

Luke 13:1-5 (ESV)

Optimism is only the facade of a world without hope that is trying to hide from its own despair with this deceptive sham. This is the only explanation for the immoderate and irrational anxiety, this traumatic and violent fear that breaks out when some setback or accident in technological or economic development casts doubt on the dogma of progress. -Benedict 16

JAMES 5
1 Come now, ye rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you.
2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.
3 Your gold and your silver are rusted; and their rust shall be for a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh as fire. Ye have laid up your treasure in the last days.
4 Behold, the hire of the laborers who mowed your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth out: and the cries of them that reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.
5 Ye have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure; ye have nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter.
6 Ye have condemned, ye have killed the righteous one; he doth not resist you.

Something to add to monks post

REVELATION 11
18 And the nations were wroth and thy wrath came and the time of the dead to be judged and the time to give their reward to thy servants the prophets and to the saints, and to them that fear thy name the small and the great (((and to destroy them that destroy the earth.)))

PSALM 2
1 Why do the nations rage, And the peoples meditate a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Jehovah, and against his anointed, saying,
3 Let us break their bonds asunder, And cast away their cords from us.
4 He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision.
5 Then will he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his sore displeasure:
6 Yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion.
7 I will tell of the decree: Jehovah said unto me, Thou art my son; This day have I begotten thee.
8 Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
10 Now therefore be wise, O ye kings: Be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
11 Serve Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that take refuge in him.

Hey, DaveD,

"When the judgement falls on America it will not be through easily predictable, naturally occuring cycles. It will be dramatic and will be seen for what it is by both the righteous, who will meet it with greif for the hurt, not self-righteous glee, and the unjust."

That's quite a paragraph. I don't see a lot of "self-righteous glee" here, though. It just gives us pause to think. It's self-examination so we don't get so enamored of money that we lose our souls.

"easily predictable, naturally occurring cycles" It would have been good of you to clue in Paulson and Bernanke a little earlier. :-)

"When the judgement falls on America" Is there something else you're holding out on us? (I personally think it will be more of an "ism" or multiple "isms" that will generally be broader than just America)

Gravity, Temperature, Storms/Weather, God made, God controls.

Wall Street, Fannie & Freddie, AIG, etc. Humans made, thinking they control it. They're wrong, we're wrong.

I don't really think like you do that they are that similar. (but I could just be an idiot)

But, I think the point of the original post is just to get us to examine things, mainly our affections. I don't read from iMonks general tone that he takes that literal of a view that it is absolutely, without a doubt, God's Wrath, but it is eerily similar metaphorically. (Of course I've only started visiting in the last 3 months or so, and I really don't know the man, and probably shouldn't make the statement like that, but it's how I see it, which is eerily similar to how you could write that paragraph that got me going on like this. I could hardly work all day, thinking about it :-)

Where your treasure is, there will your heart be, also.

This is fun!

Thanks iMonk!
