Thank you for posting this, Michael. I'm grateful to Peter Jones for helping remind us Catholics, through the example of Pope Benedict, that our attitude toward other Christians ought always to be a true humility that comes from a genuine desire to learn, from consciousness of and repentance for past wrongdoing, and from an desire to share in the holiness and gifts of the Spirit manifested in other Christian traditions.

Please pray that all of us in communion with Pope Benedict may with him be led "into a deeper and fuller understanding of Scripture and the Gospel."

While I think the Pope and Catholicism to be something other than what the Bible explains that the church are to be, the fact that the latest Pope desires theological dialogue with Protestants is very enlightening. Being a Calvinist myself, I am surprised by his actually reading The Institutes. This shows, if anything, that God is doing a work in his heart, and it would do us all well to pray for God to continue working in the heart and mind of the Pope rather than being condemning bigots.

Gosh, The Banner of Truth? What's happened to its view that the Pope in the Ant-Christ and Rome is the Babylon of Revelation?
