A Day of Silence and Prayer for Paris and all Peace-loving People

_86683846_de27-1

We will not have Saturday Ramblings today.

Instead, we urge silence and prayers for our friends in France, who have suffered tremendously over the past 24 hours.

Sadly, we could do this every week, because it seems that every moment somewhere in the world peace-loving people are under attack.

Prince of Peace, have mercy on us.

• • •

O God, do not keep silence;
    do not hold your peace or be still, O God!
Even now your enemies are in tumult;
    those who hate you have raised their heads.

• Psalm 83:1-2

Comments

  1. Suggestion: you should turn comments off. Let your words speak for themselves.

  2. let this be so….

  6. Lord, be with the people of Paris. Protect and heal them. Help the injured to recover, help those who have lost loved ones to grieve their dead; help them and all the French people not to become captive to the spirits of fear and hatred, and the desire for revenge. Guide France and all the world to peace.

    Lord, help me not to hate my enemies, not to hate those who harm me or those I love. Help me not to surrender to the spirits of fear, anger and revenge; teach me to be strong with your strength, Jesus, the strength that forgives and loves in the face of hatred and death.

    I do not know how to pray for my enemies, Lord, though I believe that you would have me pray for them. And so I commit them to your understanding and love, the understanding that sees the causes of all actions, and that loves from the other side of the your cross.

  7. Last night I was leaving work when I started to hear about it. But it was early reports on CNN so I didn’t realize the gravity …yet. Then I was with some guys and I pulled out my Android and saw the news and was shocked. I cried when I realized that France is having their September 11. I think of the lives lost, the families shattered, relationships destroyed and just how evil…evil can truly be, Its days like today that I struggle with faith in God because you see the problem of evil, and are reminded as to how severe it can be. Its just overwhelming, and numbing.

    I am a history major and studied history like crazy in grad school. Last night as I was in bed I was thinking that France hasn’t seen this kind of violence since World War II. That stunned me.

    I don’t have any other words to say. I am just stunned and in shock. The scale and brutality is overwhelming.

    I don’t know what to say…

  8. Vinny in Tennessee says:

    liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

  11. La paix soit sur France. Peace upon France.
