Today, we hear Bach’s inspiring setting of one of the greatest texts in the Hebrew Bible, the opening chorus from Cantata BWV 45, “Es ist dir gesagt, Mensch, was gut ist”

It has been told to you, mankind, what is good
and what the Lord expects from you,
namely: to keep God’s word
and practice love
and be humble before your God.

• Micah 6:8

This, my friends, is the heart of the matter.

  1. Susan Dumbrell says:

About 30 years ago an Anglican Priest, Fr Ted Cross preach on this passage from Micah.
He was very elderly but a great example of a life of faith in Jesus. All we who knew him loved because of the light of Christ he shared.
I pray he has found rest in our Saviour and may light eternal shine upon him.

He imprinted on my heart and mind this verse.
I must admit I prefer the KJV for its rhythm and poetry.

what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and love mercy, and walk humbly with thy God.

May our God walk with each of us this Holy Day.

    Peace.

    Susan.

  2. Another striking photo. The color palette is very unique.
